Pyroguard’s Nordic Expansion: A Q&A with Elvedin Ramic

Since Elvedin Ramic’s appointment as Technical Sales Manager in 2023, the company has seen significant growth in the Nordic region. With new test evidence and strategic partnerships with leading framing manufacturers, Pyroguard are now in a stronger position than ever to offer an even wider range of fire safe solutions to the market.

We sat down with Elvedin to learn more about these developments and what the future holds for the business in this key region.

Kiruna Hotel, Sweden - Fire Safety Glass

Can you tell us a bit about your background and how this has helped strengthen Pyroguard’s position in the Nordics?

Certainly! Before joining Pyroguard, I spent many years in the aluminium industry, working with major players like Reynaers, Purso, Hydro, and Elitfonster. This experience gave me a deep understanding of framing fabrication and the broader market landscape. Since our customer base closely mirrors my previous roles, it also provided me with valuable insights into their challenges.

This background has been crucial in strengthening relationships with key stakeholders, ensuring we address their specific needs, as well as reinforcing Pyroguard’s reputation as a leader in fire safety glass. Through my industry knowledge and connections, I’ve been able to make an immediate impact in this territory.

Pyroguard has recently achieved new test evidence with SAPA aluminium systems. How does this impact your customers and the market?

It’s a significant milestone for us, especially considering SAPA’s strong position here. Our toughened fire safety glass has now been tested and certified to meet EI30 and EI60 classifications when paired with SAPA’s 2086 partition and door framing system.

These are the most commonly specified fire ratings in the region, so this new certification directly responds to our customers’ needs. With SAPA’s widespread popularity and loyal client base, this opens up a wealth of new opportunities, allowing us to offer an even wider range of compliant fire safety solutions.

Are there any other significant developments to Pyroguard’s fire test evidence that are making waves in the Nordics?

Absolutely! One of the standout achievements has been our collaboration with steel framing manufacturer, Stålprofil. This new test evidence covers EI30 to EI90 classifications for windows, doors, and partitions, meaning our customers can achieve superior fire performance without having to compromise on modern aesthetics.

Additionally, our new partnership with Schüco – who is expanding its presence in the Nordic market – has allowed us to broaden our range of fire safety solutions for customers. Through extensive testing, we’ve now included Schüco’s aluminium doors, partitions and façades in our portfolio. This means that architects, specifiers and fabricators can now access a wider selection of certified fire safety solutions that meet the highest standards.

To further support these developments, we’ve launched dedicated brochures for both Stålprofil and Schüco systems, offering all the necessary test evidence and specifications to help our customers make informed, innovative design decisions.

From your experience in this territory, what trends are emerging in the construction and glazing industries?

One trend that stands out is the increasing demand for larger pane sizes. This move towards bigger and bolder glazing systems aligns with the growing trend for striking architectural designs. While this is exciting, it also presents many challenges. That’s why we’re continually pushing the boundaries of our fire safety glass by testing it on increasingly larger panes to ensure we can meet these evolving needs.

Another trend is the rise in demand for multi-functional glazing systems that combine fire safety glass with manual attack resistance. Multi-functionality has always been a core focus for Pyroguard, so we’re already delivering solutions that can meet these dual requirements.

Looking ahead, what’s next for Pyroguard in the Nordics?

The last two years have been a period of substantial investment for Pyroguard in this region. We now have a robust portfolio of test evidence that enables us to approach the market with confidence, offering a wide range of high-performance solutions for multiple applications.

We’re already seeing the benefits, with growing brand awareness and several exciting projects in the pipeline. For instance, we’re working on a project at the moment that involves 300 m² of fire-rated glass with panes as tall as 3.7 m – an ambitious undertaking that showcases the scale of what we can achieve!

This phase of expansion and innovation is a really exciting time to be a part of the team, and we’re thrilled to continue leading the way in fire safety solutions.
